No more Mr. Nice Guy

You know, I'd give everything I owned to someone in need. I never wanted anything in return. Just the good feeling of having done someone a favor was enough for me.

Yeah, well...FUCK THAT! Never again. I'm going to become some bitter old bitch and refuse anyone who needs my help, advice, my right ear.

No matter what you do for someone or what your intentions are, it comes back and slaps you right upside the head. And you're made to feel like an idiot for your efforts.

I recently turned to someone close to me and poured my heart and soul out to her. In confidence, mind you. What did I get in return? This 'someone close' took every thing I said to her and passed it on to someone else involved in the situation. And when I asked this 'someone close' a specific question about it, she blatantly lied to me about it. She then said "I don't want to get involved" but continued to tell everything to the other involved party.

No, this isn't anyone online or even internet-related. Just real life shit that I got involved in trying to be nice and help someone out. I won't make that mistake again.

Hey! Look what I found! My BLOG! Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!

Forgot I had this place, actually. Pathetic, aren't I?

Actually, there's really been nothing to blog about. At least, nothing I CAN blog about. Family stuff, crappy health stuff...stuff that no one really wants to hear about. lol

Let's talk about MySpace. I have one of those. It's been a little more fun and interesting lately. I've gotten rid of the "friends" that I don't really know and stuck with people I know better. And family. I've got some family members on there now. Cousins that I haven't seen in over 35 years, too! They live in Texas and one of them is sick right now with Leukemia. :( I think about those two all the time and feel bad that we're not all closer. Sometimes, you just need someone to vent to or whatever. And sometimes, your immediate family is too critical or close to the situation or whatever, to vent to.

I found a couple of ex's on there too. Well, one ex from high school and beyond and one HUGE CRUSH from high school. I got to go out on one double date with the guy I had a crush on and it was the DATE FROM HELL! LOL This guy was just soooo adorable, I had it really bad for him. Stupidly, I'd have done anything for a go with this guy. (Yes, sweet, innocent, virginal me...) It was really bad. I think it was in the stars though that Aunt Flo visited me that day and I was sicker than a dog!! (Aunt Flo never treated me right back then) We still went parking for a make-out session and would you believe...we got caught! Ack!

Needless to say, we barely ever spoke to each other after that. But it was really cool to find him on MySpace and see what he's been up to. Actually, I found him on Classmates.com first, but we didn't really connect then either. But wasn't he adorable? I always loved guys with really dark hair.

Well, now that I've 'outed' Lee, I guess that's it for now. I'll try to come back more often.

Just call me....

Grace.

This past Friday night, it was my turn at the ER.

When the new ER wing opened up at our hospital, I admit that I was curious about how it turned out. OKAY! I KNOW NOW!

Guess who can't walk across the lawn without half-killing myself? Grrr.

Ah, let's see....

Where'd I leave off? It's been over a month since my last confession. LOL

Spent several hours (like...7!) at the ER last night with my daughter. They thought at first that she had a kidney stone, but after a CAT, it turns out she's got a kidney infection. She was in some intense pain, the poor girl. Pain meds and antibiotics have her on the road to recovery though. Keep your fingers crossed.

Summer's half over. The heat and humidity are about to kill me and the yard looks like shit. LOL It was so dry and hot here, we were almost in a drought. Nothing was growing in the yard, just the buckhorn and now the blue-devil has joined it. The grass is still in a non-growing stage. Dang it. I guess whether we want to or not, we have to mow the buckhorn down. I hate that stuff anyway.

Another cute kid story: My sister and the kids were here for a visit in June and the first week of July. McKenna's a real chatter box and ever since I was there in March and April, her main goal was to finally 'meet' Misser Homer. That's what she calls my hubby-like guy. Misser Homer. It's so cute when she says it. Anyway, before they headed back to AZ, we all had a cookout at her Grandpa Larry's and of course, Misser Homer was in attendance. McKenna was thrilled. She'd seen him a few times before and she was totally enthralled with him. So, at the cookout, she says "Misser Homer....take me to Grandpa's garden." So, Homer takes her by her tiny hand and they begin to walk around the garden. That's a trip that McKenna's taken many times with her grandpa, so she knows each and every plant growing there. Misser Homer says "Look...those are tomatoes." and McK says "Yes, I like tomatoes. Do you? Why?" lol (everything ends with Why?) Misser Homer says "Look.....those are beans!" and she says "Yes, I don't like those, do you? Why?" They go along a bit further and Misser Homer says "Look, those are pickles!" to which McKenna replies, "No. Misser Homer, those not pickles! Those are cucumbers!" He had no idea she knew what a cucumber was, I guess.

Homer's brother Larry has been in the hospital for the past week and a half. He nearly lost his foot due to no circulation. The veins in his right leg were completely blocked in a few different places and his foot was turning blackish-blue. After a few very painful procedures to clear the blockages, he's on the road to recovery and is due home today, his foot and all toes intact. He's not supposed to smoke anymore, but he told Homer on the phone that he was dying for a cigarette. He just may do that.

I'm working on a new blog. Haven't got all the bugs out yet, but when I do, I'll let you know about it. I may have to call upon Jude to help me though. I need a skin. A nice one, but not too busy. We'll see how it goes.

Hope your summer is going well. I took some great photos on Friday the 13th and have them on a photobucket page. I just have to share the album, I think. I'll let you know how that goes too. Ciao!

Friggin' Spiders!

Something's been eating me alive while I sleep at night. It looks like spider bites. I was up until 3:30am Sunday morning, tearing the room apart, the bed, washing linens, vacuuming, dusting, everything to get rid of whatever's biting me. When I awakened later Sunday morning, I had a new bite to show for my efforts. Grrrr. I hate spiders! I now have about 6 of these huge bites on me and they itch for days on end! I had chiggers once and they weren't this bad!

Summer is going great here at my house. The lawns look gorgeous. The weather's been nice: not too hot yet, not too cool. I dread the coming of fall and winter though.

Fall's nice. It's a pretty season. The bright colors of changing foliage, the cool nights and cool days, but I can't enjoy it because I know what's around the corner. If only I had a place to go for the winters, I'd be happy. A place like...oh, I dunno....Aruba? Arizona? One of those warm "A" places.

In anticipation of the coming winter, and Greg's claim that "we're not living here one more winter!", I've been looking at homes for sale in the area. I know we could get enough from this place (the acreage alone would buy another home) to get something nice and decent with a normal lane and heat. There's one nearby that I may look at in the next few days. It's a new home, built in '98, sits on one acre (okay, NOT what I'm used to, but still...) and is dirt cheap! A loan company owns it, so I'm not sure what the condition of the place is. I'll let you know.

Bleh!

It's still May and the temps are in the upper 80's and the humidity is up there too. It's too early for this, isn't it? I love warm weather...I LIVE for warm weather, but this garbage? Not! Hopefully, we'll get a nice storm to pass through later on today, but I'm not holding my breath. Hell, in this humidity, I CAN'T hold my breath! *grumble grumble grumble*

I'm heading out to a meeting tonight for the first time. I'll see how it goes and if it goes well, I'll let you know about it via private email, if you care. lol It's just something I've needed to do for a long time and I'm finally going to do it.

Let's see...what else. Well, the peonies are in full bloom. Some of you have already seen them via email, but for anyone who hasn't, I'll post a photo here or on the Sunsets & Rainbows blog later today or tonight.

I'm finally getting back into picking up my camera again. After we lost Gabrielle, I couldn't bring myself to take pictures. Of ANYthing. Or anyone....or whatever. Now I'm slowly getting back into it. There's still a lot of nature out there that I want to capture and keep forever, and if I don't capture it, who will?

Ya know you're getting old when...

You have one of those "pill-minders" to keep track of your meds.

I remember we teased my mom years ago when she first got a pill-minder and now I have one of my very own. And I only take a couple of meds a day! I take my Toprol for my heart (one half, twice a day), of course. Then I take my 81mg low dose aspirin every day. Plus a Caltrate twice a day. You'd think that would be pretty easy to keep track of, but guess again. The memory is SHOT, ladies!

Let's see...what else...

Oh, I got the cutest phone call last night. McKenna is on the phone and says "Aunt Deb, I don't have my binky NO MORE!" I told her what a big girl she was and I asked what she'd done with her binky this time. "I frow it in the trash!" like I'm supposed to know that. While I visited out there, that poor binky went through the ringer a few times. Once, it fell in the potty. Numerous times, it was thrown in the dirt and gravel in the yard. A few times, I told her "You don't need that old binky...go throw it in the trash." and she'd say "Okay..." and head to the trashcan. A minute later, she'd come back, binky hanging out of her mouth. It made many trips through the dishwasher, I can tell you that. But yeah...she's so smart, she knew it was time to give up her friend.

Cute kid stories...I've got a lot of them, but I'll not swamp you with them all at once. LOL

It's a beautiful weekend here and we've got a ton of stuff to do, beginning with clearing brush and limbs and stuff up at my mom's house. She has a showing this morning at 11, so I guess I'd better get motivated and wake up the Homer. I'd let him sleep in, but he runs the chainsaw.
